Report: 2021 Toyota Sienna’s In-Van Vacuum and Fridge Put on Ice

The 2021 Toyota Sienna was slated to receive a built-in vacuum and fridge, which would have helped it better compete with rivals such as the Honda Odyssey. Unfortunately, it now looks like 2021 Sienna buyers will have to wait a while for these fancy extras to find their way to the Toyota minivan.

Speaking to Roadshow, a Toyota spokesperson revealed the two features will not be available at the Sienna’s launch due to a supplier issue. “Availability is to be determined,” the spokesperson added.

As Roadshow reports, Toyota still plans to begin shipping Siennas to dealerships by the end of the year. The fridge and vacuum should eventually make their way to the minivan, but the exact timing remains unclear. We’ve reached out to Toyota for comment and have yet to hear back.

The Odyssey was the first minivan to offer a built-in vacuum cleaner when it arrived for the 2014 model year. Now, the feature has spread to the Chrysler Pacifica. Toyota had planned to make the vacuum standard on the Sienna Limited, and the refrigerator standard on the top-tier Platinum.

Although it won’t launch with these key features, top models will still offer other fancy goodies such as a 10.0-inch head-up display, surround-view camera, and leather-trimmed heated and ventilated front seats. Perhaps the biggest thing that distinguishes the 2021 Toyota Sienna from the crowd is its standard gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain, which consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that pairs with two electric motors to produce a total of 243 hp. Fuel economy is expected to come in at 33 mpg combined.
