Europen March 29 Evan Gershkovich, Reporter wall street journal, disappeared during a reporting trip to Yekaterinburg, Russia’s fourth-largest city. The next day, Russian security services revealed that they had arrested him on espionage charges. It is Russia’s first arrest of a Western journalist on espionage charges since the end of the Cold War and will further sour relations between Russia and the United States. The Kremlin may intend to use Mr Gershkovich as a bargaining chip to secure the release of Russians imprisoned in the US or Europe, but that has not yet been confirmed.
